Terms & Conditions

Last Updated: 26th September 2025

By booking services with Summit Canine Dog Training, you agree to the following Terms & Conditions.

1. Client Obligations

  • The information you provide about yourself and your dog must be true, accurate, current, and complete, as requested through booking forms and intake documents. You must notify us immediately of any changes.

  • If inaccurate or misleading information is provided, Summit Canine Dog Training may cancel, suspend, or refuse current and future bookings without obligation to refund.

  • You acknowledge that training success relies on your ongoing commitment to reinforce techniques outside of scheduled sessions. While we provide structured, professional support, results cannot be guaranteed without consistent participation from the handler.

  • Handlers must be at least 16 years of age. Any handler under 18 must be accompanied and supervised by an adult.

2. Liability & Assumption of Risk

  • If your dog causes injury to another dog, person, animal, or property (including Summit Canine Dog Training staff or representatives), you accept financial responsibility for all resulting costs, losses, and legal liabilities. You also agree to indemnify Summit Canine Dog Training against any claims or damages arising from such incidents.

  • If your dog becomes injured during training, transport, or exercise (including but not limited to accidents, dog interactions, or environmental hazards), Summit Canine Dog Training is not liable for veterinary costs or damages unless negligence is clearly demonstrated.

  • By attending training sessions, you acknowledge that dog training carries inherent risks and expressly assume responsibility for yourself, your dog(s), your family members, and any guests present. You agree to hold harmless Summit Canine Dog Training, its staff, and representatives from any claims or damages except where negligence is proven.

  • Children must remain under the direct care and supervision of a parent or guardian at all times during training. If children are disruptive, you may be asked to leave and reschedule at an additional cost.

7. Weather & Environmental Conditions

Training will proceed in light rain drizzle. However, in cases of high temperatures, extreme heat, or heavy rain, sessions may be shortened, rescheduled, modified, or relocated to suit the circumstances. This is to ensure the safety and welfare of dogs, clients, and trainers.

8. Training Tools

Summit Canine Dog Training uses training tools that comply with the Victorian Code of Practice for the Operation of Dog Training Establishments. These may include slip leads, standard leashes, long lines, flat collars, harnesses, crates, verbal markers, food rewards such as Prime100 or Ziwi Peak, treat pouches, clickers, relevant toys, and any other equipment considered appropriate for the specific training being conducted.

9. Health & Vaccinations

All dogs attending services with Summit Canine Dog Training must be up to date on vaccinations (or have proof of titre testing). Dogs showing signs of illness, parasites, or contagious conditions (such as coughing, diarrhoea, fleas, or skin infections) may not attend sessions. Trainers reserve the right to refuse participation if a dog is deemed unwell.

10. Aggression & Reactivity Policy

Summit Canine Dog Training does not take on aggression cases or dogs with high-level reactivity. These behaviours must be disclosed before booking. If a dog displaying aggression or undisclosed high reactivity attends a session, the session will be immediately terminated, the dog will be referred elsewhere, and all monies paid will be forfeited.

11. Training Outcomes Disclaimer

Training results depend on consistent reinforcement of techniques by the owner. Failure to follow instructions or practice exercises between sessions may impact outcomes. Lack of progress due to client non-compliance does not entitle the client to a refund.

12. Client Conduct

Clients are expected to behave respectfully towards trainers, other clients, and dogs. Summit Canine Dog Training reserves the right to refuse service if client conduct is deemed inappropriate, with fees forfeited.

13. Emergency Veterinary Care

In the event a dog requires urgent veterinary attention during a service and the owner cannot be reached, Summit Canine Dog Training is authorised to seek care at the nearest available veterinary practice. All associated costs will be the responsibility of the owner.

14. Merchandise & Training Equipment Returns

Products purchased from Summit Canine Dog Training may be returned within 30 days of purchase, provided they are unused, clean, and in original condition. Items showing signs of wear, dirt, or pet hair are not eligible for return. Please contact us directly for assistance with returns.

15. Media Consent

By engaging services with Summit Canine Dog Training (private training, Train & Walks, group classes, or events), you consent to photographs and videos of your dog, and where applicable, yourself. These may be used for educational, promotional, or marketing purposes on our website, social media, or printed materials.

If you do not consent, you must notify Summit Canine Dog Training in writing before your session or event. We will make every reasonable effort to respect your preference.
