By booking services with Summit Canine Dog Training, you agree to the following Terms & Conditions.
1. Client Obligations
The information you provide about yourself and your dog must be true, accurate, current, and complete, as requested through booking forms and intake documents. You must notify us immediately of any changes.
If inaccurate or misleading information is provided, Summit Canine Dog Training may cancel, suspend, or refuse current and future bookings without obligation to refund.
You acknowledge that training success relies on your ongoing commitment to reinforce techniques outside of scheduled sessions. While we provide structured, professional support, results cannot be guaranteed without consistent participation from the handler.
Handlers must be at least 16 years of age. Any handler under 18 must be accompanied and supervised by an adult.
2. Liability & Assumption of Risk
If your dog causes injury to another dog, person, animal, or property (including Summit Canine Dog Training staff or representatives), you accept financial responsibility for all resulting costs, losses, and legal liabilities. You also agree to indemnify Summit Canine Dog Training against any claims or damages arising from such incidents.
If your dog becomes injured during training, transport, or exercise (including but not limited to accidents, dog interactions, or environmental hazards), Summit Canine Dog Training is not liable for veterinary costs or damages unless negligence is clearly demonstrated.
By attending training sessions, you acknowledge that dog training carries inherent risks and expressly assume responsibility for yourself, your dog(s), your family members, and any guests present. You agree to hold harmless Summit Canine Dog Training, its staff, and representatives from any claims or damages except where negligence is proven.
Children must remain under the direct care and supervision of a parent or guardian at all times during training. If children are disruptive, you may be asked to leave and reschedule at an additional cost.
3. Services
Summit Canine Dog Training provides the following services:
1:1 Private Training
Private coaching sessions tailored to your dog's individual needs and your training goals. Sessions may focus on foundation skills, behaviour modification, engagement, obedience, loose lead walking, recall, confidence building, puppy development, or other agreed training objectives. Sessions may be conducted at your home, public locations, or other agreed training environments.
Handlers must be at least 16 years of age. Handlers under 18 years of age must be supervised by a responsible adult.
Summit Canine Academy
The Summit Canine Academy is a structured implementation program designed to support owners between coaching sessions. Following an initial assessment or private training session, Academy sessions reinforce your dog's training plan through trainer-led real-world practice, including engagement, loose lead walking, neutrality, confidence building, environmental exposure, enrichment, and life skills.
Academy participation is offered only to dogs deemed suitable by Summit Canine Dog Training.
Puppy Development Program
A structured puppy program designed for puppies aged approximately 9 weeks to 6 months, focusing on safe socialisation, confidence building, engagement, marker systems, play, recall, loose lead walking, handling skills, and foundational obedience.
Group Training
Small group training designed to continue developing practical skills in a controlled environment. Topics may include obedience, neutrality, engagement, confidence building, handling skills, and other training exercises appropriate to the group.
Workshops & Community Events
Educational workshops, seminars, community walks, and special events hosted by Summit Canine Dog Training or in partnership with other organisations.
While Summit Canine Dog Training will make every reasonable effort to help you achieve your training goals, behavioural outcomes cannot be guaranteed. Success depends upon consistent implementation of the training provided outside scheduled sessions.
We will make every reasonable effort to help you achieve your goals, but behavioural outcomes are not guaranteed. Clients are responsible for implementing guidance consistently between sessions.
4. Booking & Payment Policy
Private Training, Puppy Development & Summit Canine Academy
Payment in full is required by the due date stated on your invoice to secure your booking.
Bookings are not confirmed until payment has been received.
Any applicable travel fees will be included on your invoice prior to the commencement of services.
Training Packages
Training packages are payable in full before the first scheduled session unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Packages are non-refundable once the first session has been completed and must be used within the nominated validity period advised at the time of purchase.
Unused sessions remaining after the expiry period may be forfeited at the discretion of Summit Canine Dog Training.
Group Training
Group training bookings must be paid before or on the day of the scheduled class unless otherwise advised.

Private Training, Puppy Development & Summit Canine Academy
More than 48 hours' notice:
Your session may be transferred to another mutually agreed appointment without penalty.
Between 24 and 48 hours' notice:
50% of the scheduled session fee will be forfeited.
Less than 24 hours' notice or failure to attend:
The full session fee will be forfeited.
Training packages remain non-refundable once the first session has commenced. Failure to complete all purchased sessions within the applicable validity period does not entitle the client to a refund, extension, or credit unless otherwise approved in writing.
Group Training
Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice will result in the class fee being forfeited.
6. Rescheduling & Trainer Cancellations
Clients must provide at least 48 hours’ notice to reschedule without penalty. Changes after this period may incur cancellation fees.
If Summit Canine Dog Training cancels or postpones a session due to illness, emergencies, or unforeseen circumstances, it will be rescheduled. If you are unable to attend the rescheduled time, a credit may be applied to a future booking.
Exceptions: In cases of illness, medical issues, or emergencies on the client’s part, please contact us promptly. We may offer a credit at our discretion.
7. Weather & Environmental Conditions
Training will proceed in light rain and drizzle. However, in cases of high temperatures, extreme heat, or heavy rain, sessions may be shortened, rescheduled, modified, or relocated to suit the circumstances. This is to ensure the safety and welfare of dogs, clients, and trainers.
8. Training Methods & Equipment
Summit Canine Dog Training uses balanced training methods tailored to the individual dog and handler. We are structured reward-based and positive first training.
Training may incorporate a variety of equipment and reinforcement strategies, including flat collars, harnesses, slip leads, long lines, crates, toys, food rewards, verbal markers, clickers, and other appropriate training tools where suitable for the individual dog and training objectives.
All equipment and training methods used by Summit Canine Dog Training comply with applicable Victorian legislation and industry standards.
Owners acknowledge that no training tool is inherently effective without appropriate handling, consistency, and ongoing reinforcement.
9. Health & Vaccinations
All dogs attending services with Summit Canine Dog Training must be up to date on vaccinations (or have proof of titre testing). Dogs showing signs of illness, parasites, or contagious conditions (such as coughing, diarrhoea, fleas, or skin infections) may not attend sessions. Trainers reserve the right to refuse participation if a dog is deemed unwell.
10. Behaviour & Suitability Policy
Summit Canine Dog Training accepts dogs based on their suitability for the requested service.
Owners must disclose any history of aggression, bite incidents, severe anxiety, escape behaviours, medical conditions, or behavioural concerns before booking.
Summit Canine Dog Training does not provide services for dogs presenting with human or dog directed aggression or behavioural concerns beyond the trainer's scope of practice including behaviours such as resource guarding or extreme reactivity. Such cases may be declined or referred to an appropriately qualified behaviour professional.
Where undisclosed behavioural concerns create an unsafe environment for the trainer, the public, or other dogs, services may be immediately terminated without refund.
11. Training Outcomes Disclaimer
Training results depend on consistent reinforcement of techniques by the owner. Failure to follow instructions or practice exercises between sessions may impact outcomes. Lack of progress due to client non-compliance does not entitle the client to a refund.
12. Client Conduct
Clients are expected to behave respectfully towards trainers, other clients, and dogs. Summit Canine Dog Training reserves the right to refuse service if client conduct is deemed inappropriate, with fees forfeited.
13. Emergency Veterinary Care
In the event a dog requires urgent veterinary attention during a service and the owner cannot be reached, Summit Canine Dog Training is authorised to seek care at the nearest available veterinary practice. All associated costs will be the responsibility of the owner.
14. Merchandise & Training Equipment Returns
Products purchased from Summit Canine Dog Training may be returned within 30 days of purchase, provided they are unused, clean, and in original condition. Items showing signs of wear, dirt, or pet hair are not eligible for return. Please contact us directly for assistance with returns.
15. Media Consent
By participating in services provided by Summit Canine Dog Training, you consent to photographs and video recordings of yourself and/or your dog being captured during training sessions, group classes, Academy sessions, workshops, or events.
These images and recordings may be used for educational, promotional, advertising, or marketing purposes across Summit Canine Dog Training's website, social media platforms, printed materials, and other business publications.
If you do not wish to appear in any media, you must notify Summit Canine Dog Training in writing before your scheduled service. You may withdraw your consent for future media use at any time by providing written notice. Withdrawal of consent will not affect material that has already been published.16. Privacy & Data Use
All personal and client information collected by Summit Canine Dog Training is kept confidential and used only for communication, bookings, and service delivery. We do not sell or share your information with third parties without consent, unless required by law.
16. Transport & Property Access
Where Summit Canine Dog Training transports a dog as part of a booked service, every reasonable precaution will be taken to ensure the dog's safety, including the use of appropriate vehicle restraint systems.
Owners acknowledge that vehicle transport and public outings carry inherent risks despite reasonable care being taken.
Where owners provide keys, lock codes, alarm details, or other property access information, Summit Canine Dog Training will take reasonable steps to protect this information and use it solely for the purpose of delivering booked services.
Owners are responsible for ensuring their property is safely accessible and that dogs can be securely collected and returned.
18. Trainer's Right to Refuse Service
Summit Canine Dog Training reserves the right to refuse, suspend, or terminate services where:
a dog presents a risk to the safety of the trainer, members of the public, or other animals,
significant behavioural or medical information has not been disclosed,
the training environment is considered unsafe,
the welfare of the dog may be compromised,
a client behaves in an abusive, threatening, or inappropriate manner, or
the requested service falls outside the trainer's scope of practice.
Where services are refused or terminated due to undisclosed information or client conduct, fees already paid may be forfeited.
19. Policy Updates
Summit Canine Dog Training may update these Terms & Conditions at any time. Updated versions will be posted on our website or shared with active clients. Continued use of our services implies acceptance of revised terms.
